a story with no name

Started on  5/31/03.
Much like many others, unlike any other, the telling of life...

List of characters:

Hienrich, understands nothing. questions everything. thirsts for knowledge. doesn't lay importance on the moral outlook of life.

Estella, the true goodness in the world. bringer of light. always giving, always caring, hurting herself to diminish the sins and pain of others.  Deceiving herself for others' happiness.  Wants to attend Mary's school.  Most affected by her father's memory.

Saintly father, deceased. the cause for many moral disappointments.  He lived above the saints and casts a shadow on all those of the earth.   To live among the beasts, you become their brethren becoming despised by that which is higher.  He bore no children, no biological legacy but peoples' memory of him is purified with each worldly act.

Caanan:  wishing for death, always in the shadow, portrayed in beastly form. Unknown decent.  Provides for the mother but a disgrace to the children. Their saintly father has cast his shadow upon this one the most.

Willow, mother of regret.  Wasn't accepted into Mary's school.  She was not worthy of her first husband. her second husband takes care of her needs but must be kept from the children for their own sakes. feels she must compensate for her failings through her children.

Caanetta, sister of woe, is more worldly than her father in some respects. Despises him but is pleased by her own ways.  A paradox of being worldly and therefore bad, but a lesser shade of worldliness.

Cannon, brother of doubt, never accepting either father.  Lost without direction, he forges his own path.

Teacher at Mary's school, heavenly wisdom for a price.

Merchant, goods for a price.

Neighbor, always observing.

City official, indifferent and unaffected.

Tavern owner, profits from others lack of will and proclivity for sin.

Priest, caring, giving and trusting.

University professor, mentor of Heinrich.  He maintained much love for science, mankind and the priesthood.
